A demonstration of what can be accomplished through the use of alternative cancer therapies.
This website is made available for the purpose of distributing information about the treatment of cancer. It discusses both traditional and non-traditional methods and urges readers not to dismiss less publicized procedures as less effective simply because they are not widely utilized in mainstream America. Gary Grubb and his wife, Lee Ann McConnell, will share their recent experience with Gary's cancer ordeal, and what led them to develop this website.
GARY: This website comes as a result of my long, challenging negotiation with cancer. Cancer is on the threshold of becoming an epidemic in this country; in 1900 the cancer rate comprised 3% of America's population. According to recent statistics from the National Cancer Institute, 41.28% of men and women born today will be diagnosed with some form of cancer during their lifetime (seer.cancer.gov). It would be impossible to experience everything I have and not document what I consider to be precious and essential information for anyone confronted directly or indirectly with this rapidly growing disease we call cancer.
LEE ANN: As of September 2007, Gary has been cancer free for nearly three years. This is very good news, particularly since the type of cancer he was diagnosed with carries a high mortality rate. This website will discuss our tightrope walk between traditional and non-traditional cancer treatment and what we found, in the end, to be most effective. Our hearts go out to all the individuals and their loved ones who have recently been diagnosed with this disease. Our hope is to alleviate the paralyzing fear that so often plays such an enormous part in the progression of this illness. By providing information on a significant number of treatment options and corresponding literature, it is our wish to help empower individuals to be pro-active in determining the course of their care.
Individuals who have just been diagnosed with cancer are almost always faced with the burden of making urgent, critical decisions about their treatment. It is not uncommon to be given a diagnosis of some form of cancer on a Monday, and be scheduled to begin chemotherapy on the following Thursday. This leaves little time or wherewithal to truly do one’s homework in researching both traditional and non-traditional cancer treatment options. Nothing is more frightening than being diagnosed with an aggressive, life-threatening illness. Nothing is easier than turning one’s care over to a specialized physician with years of education and training. The vulnerability that comes from this traumatic news fosters a kind of hope and dependence on the professional, someone who has likely had a great deal of experience in dealing with our particular brand of illness. Our life seems to be in their hands and it is a natural thing to extend a great deal of faith in what we feel their capacities are to help us.
And yet, never has there been a greater need to make informed, pro-active choices about treatment than when one is diagnosed with cancer. Part of the complexity of current cancer treatments is that many of them leave the body ravaged and permanently weakened or disabled.
It is widely known that many forms of chemotherapy, regardless of whether they temporarily eradicate current forms of cancer, weaken the body’s immune system, thereby leaving the door open for other diseases (including other forms of cancer) to take root.
For anyone considering chemotherapy as a cancer treatment option, we encourage you to research specific outcomes of chemotherapy for specific types of cancer. One such link is cancerdecisions.com; then type in Australian study. This study researches the effectiveness of chemotherapy in treating 20 different types of cancer found in 235,000 patients. Unfortunately, we were not aware of this study prior to Gary’s treatment, and followed the doctor’s advice in undergoing five arduous chemotherapy treatments that left his body ravaged, his bone marrow compromised and his immune system weakened. A new tumor was discovered in the midst of the treatments, verifying the chemotherapy’s ineffectiveness. Months later, after having successfully utilized non-traditional treatments, we discovered the findings of the Australian Study, and saw that of 1,510 patients that had soft tissue sarcoma (Gary’s type of cancer) and were treated with chemotherapy, none of them survived more than five years.
Our greatest hope in making this website available is that individuals diagnosed with cancer won’t make some of the same mistakes we did in blindly following a course of treatment that statistically offers little hope. Our experience has shown us that certain non-traditional methods of cancer treatment are much more viable than we had dared hope, and that not only are they effective in cancer prevention and eradication, but also in preserving the integrity of the body while they are doing their work.
We’ve written a lot about the bloodroot as an agent that removed Gary’s second tumor when a surgical procedure would have been too risky, but we also want to emphasize the protocols Gary has been using to keep his body cancer free. Gerson therapy is probably the overall most effective method of prevention and treatment, as many case studies that are on record indicate.
It is the regimen Gary has studied and practiced most, and has actually sought training in to be of assistance to others. If your time is limited, we recommend the links on Gerson Therapy, Bloodroot and Role of Ph in Prevention.
